چکیده

Abstract The recovery and recycling of nutrients (N&P) from wastewater are one the major topics to save primary energy resources, raise efficiency treatment plants, foster a future circular economy. In present study, removal ammonium (NH 4 + ) phosphate (PO 3− using natural Ca-treated zeolite is investigated in detail. Special emphasis put on simultaneous both species model solutions followed by elaborate mineralogical analyses (XRD, EPMA, FEG-SEM) for characterization order determine type, structure, crystal sizes CaP-phases precipitating zeolites surface. effectivity segregation chemical composition crystalline structure CaP-phase surface depend physico conditions particular pH, molar ratio Ca P (due modification), presence NH . Results experiments N&P revealed that pretreatment enhances increases obtainable P-loadings Ca–zeolites. Maximum 25 mg g −1 Ca–zeolite binary containing were obtained. Simultaneous precipitation does not significantly influence ion exchange type CaP-precipitates formed assumed be mainly brushite apatite.

Simultaneous phosphate and ammonium removal from aqueous solution by a hydrated aluminum oxide modified natural zeolite

A natural zeolite (Z-N), rich in clinoptilolite, was modified (Z-Al) by incorporation of hydrated aluminum oxide (HAlO) for the simultaneous phosphate and ammonium removal. The incorporation of surface hydroxyl groups (≅Al-OH) into the zeolite structure, as active groups for phosphate removal, was characterized by acid-base titrations (pHPZC=4.5±0.2). The phosphate sorption increases from 0.6 m...

Arsenic Removal Using Iron-modified Zeolites

We determined the ability of two iron-and-zeolite materials to remove arsenic from groundwater. The first material is composed of iron, surfactant-modified zeolite, and hard silicate foam, and is known as Surfactant-Modified Zeolite/ Zero-Valent Iron (SMZ/ZVI). The second material is a new formulation that consists of iron-modified zeolite (IMZ). We prepared eight different prototypes of IMZ fo...

Ion Exchange Behavior of Zeolites A and P Synthesized Using Natural Clinoptilolite

The main goal of this study is to investigate the capability of zeolites A and P synthesized from Iranian natural clinoptilolite for uranium uptak. The removal of uranium(VI) from aqueous solution via ion exchange by zeolites in a single component system with various contact times,  temperatures and initial concentrations of uranium(VI) was investigated. The experimental results we...

Removal of Emulsified and Dissolved Traces of Organic Compounds from Industrial Wastewaters Using Natural and Synthesized (NaA and NaM) Zeolites

The main object of this study was to compare the natural and synthetic( NaA and NaM) zeolites as absorbents in removing emulsified and dissolved traces of organic compounds, which appear in the wastewater of  power plants, refinery and petrochemical complexes.  The specific objectives of the work was: a) to select the best species that have the highest amount of absorption; b) to measure th...
